Serving
Serving in the Christian faith means using your time, talents, and gifts to care for others and glorify God. It reflects the example of Jesus, who came not to be served but to serve. Serving can look like helping at church, feeding the poor, encouraging friends, or using your skills to bless others. It is an act of love that puts others first and shows Christ’s compassion in action. True serving is not about being noticed but about humility and obedience. When we serve, we become the hands and feet of Jesus, showing His love in real ways.
Why Do We Serve
We serve because Jesus first served us. Mark 10:45 says, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Serving shows God’s love in action and reflects His heart. Galatians 5:13 reminds us, “Serve one another humbly in love.” We serve not for recognition but to glorify God, help others, and grow in humility. Through serving, we become living witnesses of Christ’s sacrifice and compassion.
What Serving Does to the Heart
Serving others transforms us from the inside out. It develops humility, patience, and compassion as we put others’ needs before our own. Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”Serving strengthens our faith by relying on God’s guidance and builds deeper relationships with those around us. It also brings joy and purpose, knowing we are making a difference in God’s kingdom. Through serving, we grow more like Christ and experience His love in practical ways.
